  • War Out, Art In! May 17 - 24, 2022 For the fourth time, the Reclaim Collective has invited artists to transform Cologne's public space into a museum. Due to the dramatic situation in Ukraine, this year's exhibition space is dedicated to Ukrainian artists, offering them space to reveal their perspectives under the motto »Reclaim Peace«. Between 17 and 26 May, 33 billboards can now be discovered and experienced in Cologne's urban space. From Ebertplatz to the Belgian Quarter to South Station. Among 800 applicants, Victoria Pidust and Volo Bevza have been selected. Further information: www.reclaim-award.or

  • The new episode of STUDIO BONN could not be more topical. The war of aggression against Ukraine resurrects the ghosts of the 20th century: The Russian president legitimizes the destruction of a country with a Jewish head of state and recovered Jewish life as a "denazification program," and his supporters stylize themselves as Nazi persecutees. Has history become a video game, as Eva Illouz recently wrote in DIE ZEIT? Is violence repeating itself because there is no common memory in the post-Soviet space, as Olga Grjasnowa pointed out in SPIEGEL? And do we in Germany even have a map of common cultural history on which we can place Ukraine? STUDIO BONN. Discourse at the Bundeskunsthalle The Common Ground SKY OVER EUROPE Art and Culture in Times of War Talk in English with Eva Illouz, Olga Grjasnowa and Volo Bevza Moderation: Kolja Reichert Tuesday, April 26, 7 p.m., live in the Forum & later on

  • It is difficult to find the right words for the devastating and inhumane acts of violence in Ukraine. For a week now, Putin has been opposing democracy, humanity, the rule of law and international law with his declaration of war on Ukraine. Victoria Pidust and Volo Bevza are two young Ukrainian artists whose works inspires us and with whom we work closely through gallery projects. Both are currently in Lviv, where they are building street barricades and tank hedgehogs together with artist friends, welders and engineers. Expressing sympathy and solidarity seems like a drop in the ocean these days. But Volo and Vici tirelessly emphasise that this means an infinite amount to them. We want to do more! It is a joy to work with young artists and to see their visions grow. This also means giving them support - and at the moment it is not support in the form of an exhibition that is needed, but help in the form of donations. Money is urgently needed to buy more material for barricades that will be used defensively. Your help is needed! The gallery has set up an account through which we transfer all donations received towards Ukraine. As we are not an official aid organisation, we are unfortunately unable to issue receipts for donations, but we vouch that the money will only be used for materials and living expenses. Contact us if you would like to support Vici and Volo.
