  • ELMA | GRUNER. Theme and Variation, Galerie Judith Andreae (16 July - 4 September 2021)

  • On display are new works by the artists Hildegard Elma and Julia Gruner. While Elma's painting process is influenced by body dynamics, the chosen colour spectrum of red and blue and the invariable paper and brush format, Gruner uses the physical and chemical nature of the material paint to apply it to canvases to the extent of objectness. What both have in common is the concentrated exhaustion of their working methods, which leaves room for coincidences and variation.

  • Hildegard Elma und Holger Fitterer, Farbe-Strukturen-Raum, BKK Karlsruhe, April 2021

„...Hildegard Elma has lived in East Frisia in seclusion from the art business for over 30 years and worked on her visual project with great consistency and daily practice. The rare radiance of silence and inwardness in her paintings originated from this time and phrase of artistic practice. Nevertheless, the artist, originally from Freudenstadt, never severed her ties to the Black Forest, so her return is an understandable step and enriches art in the southwest with a remarkable position."
